The Wheel of the Year is turning as Samhain becomes Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Samhain watchers, Tlachtga & Mogh Ruith, pass the torch to the Chief Almighty Witch that is The Cailleach who commands that we descend even deeper into the darkness of the season of Winter Solstice.
The medicine wheel guides us to turn towards the northerly direction to embrace all that is as yet unknown within ourselves and outwith ourselves. We are laid bare at winter, like the decidious trees, now leafless and naked. This is our invitation from the medicine wheel to offer ourselves, not in sacrifice, but in grace, to the mysteries of life, death and rebirth.

To rise up once again when it’s time.

Winter Solstice, grianstad an gheimhridh in the Irish language, is when the sun appears to stop and stand still in the celestial skies, thus inviting the same from us. From humanity. To synchronise with this season of slowing down and returning to stillness once again, even if for a moment.
The Cailleach Witch is guardian of this time and of the dark womb of the primordial mother. She invites us to return to the womb from whence we came to be reborn anew. Reborn beyond religion, beyond beliefs, beyond what you currently think is possible or not possible, beyond judgements of right and wrong, beyond patterns, conditioned or otherwise, beyond black and white, beyond yin and yang, beyond dark and light, beyond masculine and feminine….
…reborn beyond every thing we have known to be true.
To venture into the black void of no-thing-ness and wait there in complete darkness
until the suns’ rays gradually and slowly penetrate that void,
illuminating the darkness and warming the heart, croí.
Black is transformed into yellow gold with the return of the suns’ light.
Whose golden plasmic rays activate rivers of gold to flow freely
and from which the new is eventually born.
