The Changing of the Seasons from Lughnasadh to Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere
Tailltiu and Lugh pass the torch to Macha as we walk together towards the time of Autumn Equinox. The wheel of the year gently guides us west as we descend into the darker time of the year. This westerly direction on the wheel shifts our focus to our ancestors, be that our ancestral lineage or the ancestry that we feel connected to. Honouring all those who have gone before us.
Equinox calls us to return to balance by showing us how to honour equal night and equal day, outwith and within. The pendulum must return to balanced equilibrium as the starting and ending point. What is out of balance will be highlighted throughout this season which is our invitation to create the necessary space to come back into balance.
The westerly direction is also the place of the setting sun. Night-time. Darkness. Endings. Death of the day that we have just lived creating space for the new day to eventually dawn. Honour this time of endings by allowing what needs to go to go.
Celebrate Autumn Equinox this 2025 in ceremony with Eimear Stassin from The Irish Wisdom School as your guide.
